📋 CMO REVIEW REQUIRED · HA1 · NOT FOR PUBLICATION
This asset is a working draft authored under Standing Order #1 (del.auth). It will be held at HA4 maximum until triad marketing-authority (Laurence Hugo + Lisa Hugo + Corrina McGowan · SO #5, SO #6) has performed sight-check review. HA5 (board-ratified · publication-ready) is gated on that CMO sight-check per user directive 2026-08-06.
SO #3 · Placeholder registrations. Life Without Debt Ltd is in pre-registration phase. ACNC charity registration, ASIC company registration, and ATO DGR/tax endorsement are not yet finalised. Any registration numbers, ABN references, or DGR statements shown are placeholders under Standing Order #3 (truthful non-compliance) and will be replaced with real values on registration.
Referrer Pack · for health professionals
Stance A · direct
This pack is written for professionals — GPs, palliative-care nurses, oncology social workers, hospital discharge planners, community-health coordinators, McMillan / Cancer Council / MS Australia / MND Australia / Motor Neurone / Heart Foundation / Kidney Health / Cancer Council network. No softening; you need signal clarity to identify the right patients.
What Life Without Debt does
Life Without Debt Ltd (ACN: pending · ABN: pending) is an Australian charity that resolves consumer debt for people living with terminal, life-limiting, chronic, or serious illness — and for their immediate families and primary carers. Service is free at the point of use. It is funded through donations, grants, and philanthropic partnerships.
The service model:
- Case intake · via /intake or professional referral (this pack).
- Credit-mediation service · a Beneficiary Liaison Officer works with each patient's creditors directly under written authority.
- No fees to the patient. No commissions taken from any debt-resolution outcome. Not a debt-management firm; not a "debt agreement" firm; not credit repair.
- Governance · ACNC-registered charity (pending), Board-governed. See /board-and-governance and Blended Workforce Design.
Patients you should think of us for
- A palliative or terminally-ill patient whose consumer debts are compounding stress on the patient or family
- A patient in the first 6 months post-diagnosis of a life-limiting illness (this is the window when debt loads spike from lost income + medical costs)
- A chronic-illness patient whose ongoing costs have pushed consumer credit into a spiral
- A primary carer whose own consumer debt has grown while caring
- Recently-bereaved families dealing with the deceased's consumer debt (we can advise, though probate specialists lead)
Patients we can't help
- Business debts (we can refer to Small Business Debt Helpline)
- Situations requiring formal bankruptcy filing (we can refer to a registered trustee)
- Health situations that are transient (a broken leg, elective surgery recovery, etc.)
- Family Court debt-allocation disputes
How to refer
- Get consent · the patient (or their authorised representative) must consent to your referring on their behalf.
- Send us the referral · email referrals@cosailifewithoutdebt.org with: patient name (or de-identified code if they prefer), your professional details, the best way for us to make contact, and — with the patient's consent — a brief note on illness context.
- We contact the patient within 2 business days.
- We keep you in the loop to the extent the patient consents to us doing so — most patients want their treating team informed of case progress.
What we ask of referrers
- Only refer with patient consent.
- Do not share patient financial information beyond what's needed to make first contact.
- Set realistic expectations — we are careful, thorough, and non-transactional. Cases typically resolve over weeks, not days.
- Give us feedback. If our service has helped, tell us. If it hasn't, tell us more.
Case-conference support
For complex cases — a multi-morbidity chronic patient in aged-care transition with 6+ creditors, for example — we can join a case conference by phone or video. Request via referrals@cosailifewithoutdebt.org.
